Just-in-time initiatives have been used in automotive and other manufacturing industries since the 1990s, with automotive sequencing concepts built on these just-in-time philosophies. There is an accelerated uptake of sequencing as OEMs and suppliers alike are realizing the benefits. In fact, the benefits are so great that OEMs continue to demand their suppliers have these capabilities. This article introduces sequencing concepts in automotive, highlights the other industries that have adopted these concepts, and introduces the vendors that provide sequencing applications.
