Planning and Scheduling

Schedule production and material purchases using the real-time MRP engine from Plex.

Use Kanban scheduling for pull-based replenishment. Maintain plant, department and even individual workcenter schedules using the workcenter calendar.

  • Capacity Planning

    • Analyze current and future load on production workcenters.
  • Customer Sales Forecast

    • Store forecast data by period
    • Compare different versions of the forecast
    • Maintain initial sales and manufacturing versions of the forecast
    • Display data by sales revenue or manufacturing quantity
  • Job Sets

    • Define and track collections of related jobs (work orders), including jobs to produce components or ingredients for top-level jobs in the set.
  • Job Templates

    • Flag any job-specific process routing as an approved process that can be reused for future production
    • When scheduling production, select from any existing template routing for that item
    • In addition to routing operations, new jobs will inherit all other characteristics of the template such as required materials and ingredients, quality control plans, etc.
  • Job Tracking System

The Job Tracking System is the foundation for production scheduling.

    • Plan, execute and track jobs (also referred to as work orders, shop orders, releases, or other terms) which represent instructions to produce a certain quantity of a certain product by a certain due date
    • Highly integrated with inventory and lot tracking, customer orders, and production requirements planning
    • Can be used in stand-alone mode for simple scheduling conditions
  • Kanban Scheduling

    • Augment or replace conventional scheduling
    • Especially useful for optimizing production flow of a small number of high-volume, repetitive parts
    • Based on the Toyota Production System
  • Material Requirements Planning (MRP)

    • Review system-supplied recommendations for procurement of materials and ingredients
    • Recommended purchase quantities and due dates are based on highly-sophisticated calculations using data such as customer sales forecasts and orders, current inventory, supplier purchase orders and lead times, minimum restock levels and planned production/consumption
    • After adjusting or accepting recommendations, easily convert them to purchase order releases to your suppliers
    • Specify the “regeneration schedule” most useful to your company to obtain near-real time results several times per day, unlike traditional MRP systems where results may be calculated daily or even weekly
  • Production Requirements Planning (PRP)

    • Review system-supplied recommendations for production of finished goods
    • Recommended production quantities and due dates are based on highly-sophisticated calculations using data such as customer sales forecasts and orders, current inventory, supplier purchase orders and lead times, minimum restock levels and planned production
    • After adjusting or accepting recommendations, easily convert them to the production schedule
    • Specify the “regeneration schedule” most useful to your company to obtain near-real time results several times per day, unlike traditional PRP systems where results may be calculated daily or even weekly
  • Workcenter Calendar

    • View and adjust an on-screen calendar of each workcenter’s work schedule including display of planned production, maintenance and other scheduled downtime.
