Working Smarter with SmartPlex

There are times when things just seem to intersect at the right time.

You could argue that Plex Systems deciding to commit to a pure Cloud-application delivery model in 2001 was such a time.

And now, I’m excited to announce the availability of SmartPlex, which enables Plex Online users to access and manipulate data from any number of smartphones and other mobile devices.

In a world increasingly filled with acronyms, another one you’ll be hearing a great deal of is BYOD – Bring Your Own Device.

Accessing data no longer means being tethered to a workstation. A whole number of devices – iPads, iPhones, tablets, Droids and others not even contemplated yet – will be able to give us a view into the manufacturing enterprise regardless of where we are.

Imagine being able to access mobile device-optimized data about workflow, user support, contacts, expense tracking and other information. And that’s just the beginning.

The plant floor is where the most critical information is captured and acted upon, but it’s not always possible to be right there – and now you don’t have to be in order to have a real-time perspective on manufacturing activities and make critical business decisions.

I’m excited to say we won’t realize the full potential of SmartPlex for years. We’ve always prided ourselves on updating and improving our solutions based on customer and industry needs, and SmartPlex is no exception; this is a technology that will grow in its utility and functionality in ways we haven’t even considered.  But in the meantime, it immediately makes you smarter by giving you the power to quickly make informed decisions, wherever you might be.

The intersection where technology meets innovation – that’s where I want to be. And that’s smart.
