The Argent Group is a 3M Preferred Converter specializing in the fabrication and distribution of unique adhesive and die-cut solutions, making more than 20 million individual parts per month with 350 unique part numbers and unlimited part configurations for various industry markets. The Argent Group leverages Plex in three facilities to fuel its open book management approach. This leadership style opens the company’s financial and business data with all employees, encouraging them to think and act like owners. Using the real-time business information Plex provides, the company has been able to embrace a Zero Defect and 5S initiative, expand into Mexico, and meet aggressive growth goals.

Catallia Mexican Foods makes more than 2 million tortillas and tortilla chips every day for foodservice, retail, and industrial customers, including McDonald’s. Tortilla production is a high growth and competitive market, and Catallia needed a technology solution that would unify their siloed legacy business systems and scale with the company. Using Plex, Catallia gained greater visibility into its plant floor operations, from inventory to paper records. This has allowed them to fully embrace plant automation, streamline customer orders through EDI, and exceed the highest food safety quality standards.

Plymouth Foam

Innovation

Plymouth Foam makes particle foam in everything from coolers for food and beverage manufacturers, to custom sound dampening applications for automotive OEMs and insulation for the construction industries. Plymouth employs rapid prototyping in its two facilities, using 3D modeling and in-house CNS equipment to develop new products. Most recently, Plymouth’s innovative approach led to the debut of a product that combines lightweight air foam technology with a rugged exterior. Appropriate for a number of applications, the new foam has reduced the weight of automotive seat assemblies by as much as 15 pounds.

Motus Integrated Technologies

Transformation

Motus Integrated Technologies makes headliners and visors for the world’s largest automotive OEMs. Motus is regularly recognized for innovative technology, pioneering industry-first, glass-free headliners and LED-illuminated sun visors. With Plex as its system of record, Motus has integrated production processes with business operations and financial reporting – transforming the entire business. Scrap rates have decreased, quality has improved, and the supply chain is now connected directly through Plex’s EDI and supplier portal for greater efficiency. Motus has received two supplier awards from General Motors, which recognize global suppliers who create outstanding value and deliver new innovations.

Accuride has fueled its growth strategy by self-deploying Plex solutions across a total of nine of facilities in North America and now Europe. Both Accuride’s suppliers and customers are integrated with Plex through custom portals, driving efficiency while improving service. Accuride has been recognized repeatedly by the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) for achievements in lean, and recently published a book on lean practices.

Innovation

Polamer Precision deployed Plex just over three years ago, establishing a system of record for their organization and enabling the creation of strategic impact reports for customers. Data that used to take days to gather is analyzed with just a click of the button. In that timeframe, Polamer has grown sales by 300 percent. Polamer also pursued a pilot program with Microsoft to use Hololens technology in an industrial setting. Using Hololens’ augmented reality, the team mapped out their manufacturing cell layout using a 3D model to position workstations and tooling, ensuring forklifts and other equipment have room to operate safely and efficiently.

As a private label manufacturer, Shank’s Extracts is trusted with customers’ proprietary recipes and specifications, keeping their own name out of the spotlight and putting their customers’ brands first. Just 90 days after their first go-live on Plex, Firstronic LLC brought on a second production facility in Mexico. Since then, Firstronic has achieved industry leadership by delivering new levels of customer collaboration and responsiveness. That capability started with upgrades to their entire infrastructure, including installation of over 100 machines and production validation testing on all of their products and processes. Through these efforts, Firstronic has continued its rapid growth, won new OEM contracts and received industry awards for service excellence.

MFC Netform has leveraged Plex to support everything from quality management to inventory. MFC’s organizational performance makes them a stand out supplier, with quality metrics that customers trust to benchmark their own operations.

Transformation 

Equipped with The Plex Manufacturing Cloud, MPI Corporation set in place a strategy to transform the precision slit metal supplier ABC Metals, Inc., with new systems across three plants. ABC Metals not only automated virtually every aspect of their business, but they used Web services to create a complete Made-to-Order front-end to their Plex system. The solution transformed operations, resulting in major improvements in on-time delivery, inventory optimization, supplier ordering, and increased visibility across the business.


2015 Plex Impact Award Winners

Leadership

American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM) was recognized for leading the automotive industry into the cloud. AAM implemented a new cloud ERP system across seven facilities to automate all operations in AAM's metal-forming unit. Through access to real-time data and increased efficiency, the division achieved manufacturing output and improvement in inventory turns.

Innovation

FloraCraft harnessed cloud ERP for innovation. The company revolutionized its business by capturing production data instantly to help guide decision making, meet changing demand and ensure on-time, accurate shipments. As a result, FloraCraft substantially increased revenues without increasing labor costs and earned the distinction of Walmart's 2014 Supplier of the Year.

Transformation

Accuride transformed its organization by modernizing its information and manufacturing execution systems across six of its nine operations. With Plex, Accuride increased productivity, automated processes, integrated workflows and achieved greater visibility across the organization. These achievements—coupled with existing process upgrades—helped the company win a 2014 AME Manufacturing Excellence Award for its facility in Henderson, Kentucky.
