The donation grew from a GoFundMe campaign started by Plex employee and Flint native Marcus Jones. The initial campaign goal was to raise $2,000 for Vermont Christian Church to distribute clean water to the community. However, as the greater Plex community learned about the campaign, the initial goal was quickly surpassed.
The Plex community – from employees, to vendors, board members and customers – came together to donate nearly $10,000. This amount was matched by Plex, raising a total of $20,000 in donations for clean drinking water for Flint.

"It’s amazing to see how Marcus Jones and his team at Plex have leveraged the power of their community on GoFundMe to help those in need," said David Hahn, GoFundMe president. “Plex’s matching donation shows their commitment to making a positive impact for the residents of Flint during this water crisis.”
“Michigan is our home, and we want to show our support for the people of Flint,” said Jason Blessing, Plex Systems CEO. “We’re proud of our own Marcus Jones for taking an active role in his community, and our extended Plex family for supporting this need. We’re also thankful for Meijer’s generosity in providing a sizeable discount on bottled water and delivering it in their own trucks.”
