It’s no secret that automotive manufacturers have faced extreme adversity over the last few years.

The 2023 State of Smart Manufacturing Report surveyed these businesses about their challenges and how they are using or intend to use technology solutions to meet them. Our study, in collaboration with Hanover Research, surveyed 1,353 global manufacturers who communicated their needs and experiences on a range of topics impacting technology usage in the industry. Report highlights include:

  • 50% of automotive manufacturers are mitigating risk by adopting technology
  • 40% of respondents view balancing quality with profitable growth as their biggest internal challenge
  • Catalysts for digital transformation include minimizing costs (43%), improving quality (42%), OEE (40%), and boosting production (40%)
  • 23% of operating budgets are being spent on technology
  • 64% are using software to automate processes
