Product Research and Development in the Cloud
As a private label manufacturer, Shank's Extracts creates thousands of extracts and flavorings. Researching and developing new products can now be managed through Plex ERP. All product details and revisions are tracked in Plex - from the start of the process all the way through delivery to the customer. (1:01)

Plex allows me to track everything concisely and all in one place, so I don't have to keep going in and outta systems, and that's what I like the best, having worked in other ERP systems from an R&D standpoint. From product initiation through Scala is all in Plex. I start with a project request comes in, and then that lets me know what I need to work on, the data and everything. My formulas are stored in Plex, and the sample requests are also in Plex. And it allows everything to be really trackable, and you can see where everything's going. And then if the customer purchases it, it flows right in through the production side. For R&D tracking, in the "Part List" function, I can make different revisions of the same part number, and that allows me to keep track of how many times I've worked on the formula. And then each revision can be turned into a separate part number, and that tracks which versions have gone to production.
