ICYMI: The News You Need from PowerPlex 2018

PowerPlex 2018 brought together 1,000 manufacturing and technology leaders to talk about trends, the latest in ERP and MES, and significant shifts, such as mobility, IIoT and Industry 4.0, affecting the way manufacturers make things. It’s our annual user conference, and one of the most exciting times of the year.

We at Plex were fortunate to be joined last week by some of the brightest individuals and organizations in the manufacturing industry. A full 40 percent of our 90 sessions were led or co-presented by customers, with analysts and partners also leading important discussions. Over four days in Detroit, we collaborated with customers and other industry leaders to start defining the future of manufacturing technology.

Below is a roundup of all the news you need to know from Plex:

  • Plex interim CEO Don Clarke kicked off the conference with a thanks to our customers and a focus on Plex’s vision for connected manufacturing. He dialed in on a few customers who are making a difference – including G&W Products, and Argent Tape & Label, welcoming them on stage to share their stories.
  • Don and the product leadership team, including chief product officer Richard Murray, introduced developments in industrial automation, advanced analytics, and how the team is extending the enterprise from the supply chain through delivery to customers. Importantly, Plex revealed Plex Mobile, a new mobile app designed to advance mobility on the shop floor, with simple, role-based menus and functionality.
  • On the third day of PowerPlex, CTO Jerry Foster lit up the stage with an array of news and innovations from his team. Barry Vince highlighted some of their newest wearable solutions for the shop floor, including DAQRI and RealWear. And partners including PTC, Kors Engineering and Cumulus Consulting joined the stage to talk through the way they’re using Plex to help connect systems, people, processes and machines.
  • On day three, Plex announced its 2018 Impact Award winners: The Argent Group, Catallia Mexican Foods, Plymouth Foam, and Motus Integrated Technologies. Each were recognized through our annual awards ceremony on-stage.

As I’ve said before, one of the best things about PowerPlex is the stories that we learn from our customers. Innovation is happening in all facets of our customers’ businesses. Here are a few of their stories.
